Green Sanctuary Committee Moving Forward

May 10, 2011

The Green Sanctuary Committee is looking to move forward in the Green Sanctuary process.

This will involve contacting other committees to ask what enviromental work Davies is already doing, and asking the individual members of the congregation what sorts of projects we’re interested in pursuing together. (Becoming a Green Sanctuary involves the congregation completing twelve projects in four areas:

  • Environmental Justice (minimum 2)
  • Worship & Celebration (minimum 2)
  • Religious Education (minimum 1 Adult, 1 Youth)
  • Sustainable Living (minimum 4, of which 1 is energy conservation)

If you’re interested in finding out more about what it means to be a Green Sanctuary, ask Jesse or Caryl Alexander to show you one of the video clips they have about other religious congregations, in a number of denominations, who have acted as environmental stewards as part of their religious mission.
