Living with, Not Lording over, Plants

May 4, 2011

Rev. Bruce’s sermon, A Theology of Gardening, talked about gardening as a way to live in harmony with the natural world: a middle path between the artificial constraints of a suburban lawn and the naïve romanticism of absenting ourselves from a place to let nature run wild. He also used the practice of long-term cultivation and symbiosis as a metaphor for how we should live with one another, in our personal lives, in our churches, and in the wider community.
