Maryland could legalize same-sex marriage

December 9, 2010

The Washington Post reports that Maryland lawmakers could legalize same-sex marriage next year, which would be a big step forward for our state. The Post reports:

Membership changes on the panel, where same-sex marriage bills have previously died, are among a handful of shifts produced by last month’s elections. Collectively, they appear to have tipped the balance on the most high-profile social issue the General Assembly will consider during its upcoming 90-day session.

Unitarian Universalists, whose First Principle is to respect the inherent worth and dignity of every person, generally support marriage equality, so this is good news for Davies and other Maryland congregations.
