Book Signing: The Black Clergy’s Misguided Worship Leadership

June 7, 2010

Sunday June 13, 12 noon, Dr. Christopher Bell will sign his latest book The Black Clergy’s Misguided Worship Leadership, at Davies Memorial Unitarian Universalist Church, 7400 Temple Hill Road, Camp Springs MD.

The book is an incisive analysis of why and how the black community’s worship of Jesus Christ, the Christian, white male idol is misguided and is a subliminal underlying cause of low academic achievement motivation among black adolescents and the high rates of recalcitrance, violence and incarceration among many young black men.

An excerpt: “Black children may be loved, fed, and cared for, but they are also routinely mind-poisoned. The mind-poisoning begins when black parents present the white male, Christian idol, Jesus Christ to them and tell them to worship Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. …The new Christianity will be a religious and cultural awakening and a crucial step toward black people gaining spiritual enlightenment, psychological freedom, and authentic self-respect.”
